Short version: if you send us your details we use them to reply to you and to do the work. We do not sell them, we do not add you to a mailing list, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Who we are. The Signwriters is a web design studio operating in Ireland. We are the data controller for everything described here, which means we decide what happens to the details you send us and we are the ones answerable for it.

Questions, requests, or anything you want deleted: info@thesignwriters.com. A person reads it, and you will get an answer the same working day.

What we collect, and why

WhatWhenWhy we need it
Your name, business name, phone, town, website address and message When you fill in the enquiry form To reply to you and to quote for the work. This is the only reason.
The website address you type into the free site check When you run the check To fetch that page and score it. We do not store it against you, and the check does not ask for your email.

Our lawful basis

Who else sees it

Only the people who have to:

We do not sell your details, share them with advertisers, or pass them to anyone else without asking you first. There are no advertising or analytics trackers on this site, and no cookie banner because we do not set any tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work: 12 months, then deleted. Records for clients we have worked with: 7 years, because Irish tax law requires us to keep business records that long. Server logs: whatever our hosting provider's standard retention is, typically about 30 days.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, hand it over in a portable format, or object to us using it. Email info@thesignwriters.com and we will deal with it within one month. It costs you nothing.

If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission - dataprotection.ie, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28.

A note on the businesses we scored

Before building anything we scored the public websites of Irish local businesses, using information those businesses had already published - their own homepage, and their public Google listing. Everything we quote publicly from that work is anonymised to trade and city. We do not publish the name of a business we scored without being asked, and if you are one of them and would rather we held nothing about you, email us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change how any of this works we will update this page and change the date at the top.
